The short answer is no. Replacing the instrument or gauge cluster won't reset the mileage.

The dealerships are correct in that you have to use a Tech 2 to program the cluster, but if you just put the brand new one in and leave it, it'll still work just like I said you're starting at zero sort of speak.
How do I reset my digital odometer on my bike?
Do you want to reset the Odometer or Tripmeter. If its the latter, then there is a button on right side of the meter console to reset it. Your Odometer will come back to 0 post completing 99999kms. If you want to reset it for selling purposes, that will be termed as cheating.
